what the heck is Human Garage ?

For me, it feels like I’ve had a good sleep, an osteopath session, massage & physio. The best nights sleep. Recalibration. I arrange my diary around it. Here’s why my date with Emily at Lions Den City in Norwich is a non-negotiable...

Ever stretched and felt that delicious, rippling release that seems to travel through your whole body, not just one muscle ? That’s the feeling we’re exploring.

Fascia is your body’s connective tissue network, a silky, web-like fabric that wraps around and runs between muscles, bones, organs & nerves. It supports, connects & helps your body move as a whole.

Healthy fascia allows tissue layers to glide. When movement becomes restricted through injury, repetitive habits or long periods of stillness, you can feel stiff, sore or less comfortable in your body.

why work with fascia ?

The way we move, breathe, sit & respond to life’s stresses shapes how we carry ourselves. Over time, those patterns become familiar. We work around tightness, shorten a movement or forget how it feels to let our shoulders drop.

Working with fascia is an invitation to explore those patterns & introduce something different. People often describe feeling lighter, freer, taller, more open, grounded or calm. A little like pressing reset on how your body moves, breathes & feels.

fascia holds more than structure - it holds stories

what are fascial manoeuvres ?

Gentle, guided movements combined with specific breathing & awareness. Human Garage brings these together in sequences designed to explore tension & encourage easier movement. They’re not about stretching harder or pushing further. They’re about slowing down, creating space & giving yourself time to respond.

We start small: noticing sensations, breathing & reconnecting. From there, we explore how a change in position or movement can change the way the whole body feel.

learning something you can do for yourself - whenever

what could change ?

Everything ? Perhaps turning your head feels easier. Your shoulders settle. You notice that you’ve been gripping your jaw while answering emails, driving, or doing absolutely nothing that requires a clenched jaw. The practice gives you a way to explore tightness, movement & posture rather than simply putting up with how you feel. For an active body, it’s time to slow down & pay attention. For a body that spends hours sitting, it’s an opportunity to move differently. For a busy mind, there’s something absorbing about having to listen to the body attached to it.

how does it feel ?

Fascia work can sound mysterious. Until you feel it.

The shifts may be subtle at first: a deeper breath, a lighter step, a sense of calm spreading through your body.

Your shoulders might drop. You might notice you breathe more easily. You might feel more connected. You might even feel more you again.

For me, the feeling afterwards is what makes this worth sharing. Rested, more comfortable, somehow better put together.

the ultimate recalibration

fascia flow with Emily Housman

It's not an every month occurance & might be the last one this year... Emily’s guided Fascia Flow workshop at Lions Den City in Norwich introduces Human Garage fascial manoeuvres through movement, positioning & breathing.

You’ll have someone to demonstrate, guide you through the sequences & help you understand the practice, with techniques to keep exploring at home.

Come curious. You don’t have to become fascinated by fascia to appreciate feeling better in your body. Although fair warning: that’s how it starts.
